Feeling good today. I told my Mother about my dream, the one with my Father and I out hunting over 30 years ago... She was touched as was I. It was a good talk. She is such a kind person. Anyway I hope that as the world turns this little positive vibe goes around with it.

On a low ebb this morning no real revelations to share with this post. Had a dream about my Father from a time some 30 years ago on one of the many fine days he took me out hunting. Those were some of my most memorable and happy moments in my life. He was truly my teacher, guide and best friend. I miss him, but still remember my time with him vividly. Every child should have such a fine Father in their life. Make a positive difference in even a small way in someone else's life and make it a great day.

An end of another four part post. An artistic experiment in time and space as they relate to perception. And a start of another week for some, for some it has yet to start, for others it has already started and for others still it will never be. My prayer for you today is no matter where you are in this world that you will find some time to seek inner peace. And most importantly find what you seek an inner peace that wraps you in love and harmony. A peace that transcends your personal troubles and cultural difficulties whatever they may be. Even the unknown have names. Even the unseen have names. Even molecules have names. Look not for the expected, but be alert for the unusual as you reach through the veil. Without caution and patience we are merely lumbering juggernauts bent on destroying this world. Without a second thought we might just become the monster we abhor. Look closely now, what do you find. In what state in your mind, your soul. What is your true intent?

My work moves in multi dimensions. As my canvases evolve objects appear, things are manifest through the process and as they are I look to let them exist as I seek to complete the cohesive composition I set out to create. I used to ignore and paint them out. But now I finally understand that it is these beautiful little details that occur out of my organic process that are the creative Spirits gift to me and in turn my gift to the world. It is in this that I truly realize my connection to art and my purpose for being.

I find myself in the lineage of many great artists and often feel like I am walking with Giants. One of them being Max Ernst a German Surrealist and Dada artist. "He reworked his diary until his death, seeking to extend consciousness into the regions of inspiration. He once described his work as "an attempt to conquer the last great myth of civilization, the myth surrounding the creative process"... He continues, "In striving more and more to restrain my own active participation in the unfolding of the picture and, finally, by widening in this way the active part of the mind's hallucinatory faculties, I came to exist as spectator at the birth of all my works."

Well you can only imagine how these words hit me. It is as if he said them to me, for me. And that is what I mean by my connection and purpose for being. I believe that I am here as a temporal being to keep this Spirit alive in our world so that others that come after me have a better understanding, another road map to follow for inspiration and understanding. That is what I believe to be our greatest purpose and gift as artists.

I can only hope that somehow I can gain support of enough others to allow me to paint full time. I know that it will take this in order to fully realize and develop my work to it's full potential. And without more sales I can't quit my day job as I have to provide for my family. This is one of four posts as many others that is just a quarter of the entire composition. I am doing this to pull you back and slow down your input speed so you might just see a glimpse of what I have actually done. It's all in the details...

My work moves in multi dimensions. My canvases are a place where objects, places, animals and people are all interwoven, interlocked through a myriad of organic rhythms or ripples in time space. Each passage is a movement into or back from another place, another time. If you look closely and stay calm for a moment as you look at my work you might see on closer inspection owls, other birds, horses, people, or landscapes.

This is the world that I feel we live in. We think we see solid. But with the myriad of imagery and volume of images we see each day from the newspaper, to the web, to the TV we are really bombarded by millions of images, thoughts and ideas everyday. Our brains are just doing there best to filter out and make sense of it all for us. This however doesn't keep us from the experience. This work expresses this thick web in the detail while I try to create an overall composition that is cohesive.

So this piece Removing the Veil is about my removing the visual veil of my work, while creating an air of mystery about the art and the abstract by limiting how much of each piece is seen at a time. It is also about the real concept of Removing the Veil of deceit and deception that manifests itself in this world. About revealing the physical beauty of the human female form. And most importantly Removing the Veil that shrouds the freedom of women. From a man's view point of course.

The Devine Creative Spirit drives our kind (humankind), to create and build when in harmony. And to War and cruelty when we are not. It is when we are out of balance that we see each other differently and want to wage War on each other for our own gain. We forget we are not here to be better than our brothers and sisters. We are here to serve and help raise up our entire kind to enlightenment. Out of balance we see race and religion as separating factors instead of seeing them as the result of the amazing variety of this planet (the creation in which we reside).

Every soul seeks sanctuary, succor, emancipation, freedom and liberty. Every soul needs these things to be whole, to be in balance, to be at Peace.

As my mind moves through time, my past, my history. I can so clearly remember what a sense of love and respect for the land that my father instilled in me. This is a very powerful and meaningful memory for me. This memory always brings me back to reflecting on how I feel about my creative process. And how I celebrate life and honor the earth in each stroke that I make and each piece that I do.

So, honor your Father and Mother. And strive to do good works.

Like wild birds we flutter around in mass, not knowing the reason why. But we somehow know that something is wrong. Something bad is coming.

That is the Spirit, our connection to all things that is speaking to us. Our collective Spiritual self speaking to our individual physical selves...

Then the gust of wind a slight tremor and a short calm. Before nature unleashed her full might upon us. A Earthquake, a Tsunami, or a Tornado... call them what you will in your native tongue.

Only our inner unrest is due to something less physical but every bit real and even more powerful our collective Spirit. The Spirit that binds us all and everything else seen and unseen, understood and yet to be understood. The same collective Spirit that is behind all of creation... more to come

Spirit tormented and broken my soul rages with desire to break free with the truth.

As I see it, the turmoil in this world is related to the unrest in our collective Spirit. The current and past religious tensions are just one outward manifestation of this unbalance as is War. My paintings however, are often not understood or misunderstood. As with many artists of the past, I know well that it may be well beyond my lifetime before people are in the mental and spiritual state required to comprehend my work.

But that is irrelevant, I paint because I must paint. I paint what I must because the work needs to be brought into this world. So that it exists here and is ready for the time when others can understand and enjoy it.

Fiery Fall Color

Forest for the Trees Oil on Canvas. 24" X 18". Fine dark blue lines are the cohesive threads that bind this composition but, are lost a bit in the photo translation. Fall is the only time of year I see colors like this and think how beautiful as usually they represent catastrophe.

This self portrait was done during some very turbulent times. Done with the raw emotions that I was feeling and executed in an Abstract Expressionist - Action Painting style. It expresses the turbulence and anxiety I was feeling at the time.

Background: I hadn't been feeling very good about my life or what I was doing for a living. I was frustrated, depressed and beaten down. It took me many months to begin to overcome the deep depression and walk upright again. A testament to the resilience of the human spirit. Times are still tough as I look to find a new way to make a living and support my family, but I have my art and the belief that if I continue to stay positive and strong good things will come and everything will be alright.
